The Senior Accountant will be a key participant in the day-to-day accounting functions. This role is responsible for executing the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting strategic financial decisions. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual with a strong grasp of US GAAP and a demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Closing & Reporting:
  • Participate in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts (e.g., prepaids, accruals,  various liabilities).
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and ensure the integrity and accuracy of all financial records.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including departmental P&Ls, margin reports, flux/variance analyses, and management dashboards.
  • Perform detailed account analysis and provide explanations for significant variances.
Operations & Transactions:
  • Participate in accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) processes, ensuring timely and accurate transaction recording.
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow activities, including ACH, wire transfers, and credit card processing.
  • Take part in the billing and payroll processes; verify data accuracy and minimize discrepancies.
  • Research, prepare, and submit accounting adjustments as needed.
  • Assist with internal audits of various financial processes.
Compliance, Audit & Process Improvement:
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing detailed schedules, reconciliations, and required documentation.
  • Partner with external accountants on the annual financial audit by providing necessary support.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of improvements to accounting procedures, systems, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process by preparing analyses, identifying trends, and providing data-driven insights.
Additional Duties:
  • Provide guidance and share knowledge with accounting staff, acting as a subject matter expert and resource.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with all sensitive financial and company information.
  • Perform other senior-level accounting and operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting  is required.
  • Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are a plus.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive general ledger and financial reporting experience.
  • Experience in a specific industry (e.g., home healthcare ) is beneficial but not required.
Technical Skills:
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS).
  • Experience with mid-to-large tier accounting ERP systems (e.g.,  Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks Desktop/Online) is required.
  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting financial data with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
